Below you will find our Attendance Management Plan, which outlines how we are working to ensure that at least 80% of our students attend school 90% of the time or more.
Attendance is a critical part of student success. Simply put, students need to be at school to learn. There is a clear and well-established link between regular attendance and improved achievement, progress, and wellbeing.
Our most recent Education Review Office (ERO) report also identified attendance as a key priority for our school, reinforcing the importance of this work and the need for continued focus and improvement.
As a school, we take attendance seriously. This is not just a school priority, but a national one, with clear expectations from the Government around improving regular attendance. Our plan reflects these expectations, while also responding to the needs of our own community.
One key part of our approach is earlier support for students who are regularly absent. Where students are away for extended periods (generally between 10–15 days within a term), we may begin working with external agencies to provide additional support and remove barriers to attendance.
Alongside this, we actively recognise and reward positive attendance. This includes acknowledging both consistent attendance and improvement over time. In 2026, one of our key initiatives is a class attendance competition, designed to build collective responsibility and encourage students to support one another to be at school every day.
We appreciate the ongoing support of our whānau in ensuring children are at school, on time, and ready to learn each day. This partnership makes a significant difference to student outcomes.
